Work Experience
Bloomberg, L.P.Summer 2010
While working in New York City at the Bloomberg, L.P. headquarters, I produced a program that showed the status of computers used to receive data using C++ and Javascript. I learned how to use proprietary Bloomberg software, working primarily in a Unix environment. In addition to the program, I created a spreadsheet of employees in my department to allow better distribution of projects
Dayabay Neutrino Research Group at Virginia TechSummer 2009 - Spring 2010
The Dayabay Project is seeking to find the mixing angle Θ13 used in the neutrino-oscillation calculations. Virginia Tech in particular is responsible for calibrating the muon detection system. My part in this group involves building parts to be used on the neutrino detectors being built in Dayabay, China and measuring the spectrum of LEDs to be used in calibrating the muon detection system. - German Exchange ProgramFall 2007 - Spring 2008
During my time in High School I was lucky enough to be able to visit Germany twice and host a German Exchange student once. During my Freshman year I went to Germany with the German class (I took four years of German in High School) to Gummersbach and visited Cologne and Bonn while there. During my Senior year I again went to Germany, but this time to Detmold, with the Chamber Orchestra since our orchestra had an exchange with the Detmold Youth Orchestra. This same orchestra had come to America when I was a Junior so I hosted a student while they visited. These experiences were my first outside the United States.
- String QuartetFall 2005 - Spring 2008
A group of friends and I were members of a string quartet. When we were seniors, our teacher allowed us to perform at gigs that various members of the community requested of her. We were paid for some of these.
